Court TV
host: We're going to be joined by
brothel owner Dennis Hof and prostitute Trixi
Starr. Dennis Hof runs the famous Nevada
brothel, the Moonlight Bunny Ranch. And, as you
may know, it's one of the few legal brothels in
the United States.
Court TV
host: One slight change: Trixi won't
be with us for a little while...she's "partying"
Dennis Hof:
Trixi is having sex.
Court TV
Host: We're also being joined by
Mila, XXX star, the Queen of Nasty. We hope that
we'll also be joined by Trixi later. Let me ask,
before we begin, though, Mila, how you got the
nickname, Queen of Nasty?
Dennis Hof:
She does extreme stuff, she does things most
housewives have never even thought of, much less
done.
Mila, Queen of
Nasty: You can quote that.
warhorse46
asks: What is the average salary of the
working girls per year?
Dennis Hof:
The easiest way to answer that is that the girls
will make $750-3000 a day. It's hard to compute
an annual salary because most girls don't work
like its a full time job. They'll come in to
work for a month, make $50,000, then you don't
see them for 4 or 5 months.
Mila: Since
I started working, I've made close to eight
figures. But I also am the Queen of Nasty, I get
awards every year at the consumer electronic
show in Vegas. The industry awards me, saying
I'm the most outrageous performer in the entire
industry.
cuteone_00953 asks:
What kind of people are "doing" this type of
job,? For example, people from broken homes, or
with drug problems or is that just a
stereotype?
Mila:
That's just a stereotype.
Dennis Hof:
The myth is that all prostitutes have been
sexually molested. It's just not that way.
Mila: I
have been at the Bunny Ranch for 2 years now,
and 98 percent of the girls I'm friends with are
very normal people: no drug background, no
history of abuse, none of that.
Dennis Hof:
The media has put an image in the public's mind
of the prostitute being an under-age ethnic girl
with a short skirt, a crack pipe, and a pimp
down the street. In some cases they're right,
but when you legalize prostitution, it
eliminates all that.
phughq
asks: How has being a prostitute changed your
life or your views on life?
Mila: For
me personally it hasn't at all, because working
at the Bunny Ranch is for me. It's like being at
a fantasy camp. It's changed my bank account.
But as far as my views and my goals and stuff,
it hasn't changed anything at all.
Dennis Hof:
Sometimes the lowest form of prostitution is
marriage. It's not always like that, but there
are times when it is like that.
warhorse46
asks: Tell us about some of the more unusual
requests that have been made in your House.
Dennis Hof:
There's a lot of stories. I like the guys that
want to come in and apply for a job as a working
girl. Their fantasy is to be someone like Mila.
We have size 17 shoes and size 24 dresses.
They'll fill out an application and talk to the
madam. We'll ask questions, Like, why would you
be good at this? And after that, we'll have him
go sit at the bar and try to pick up customers.
Mila: I
could tell you some of the specialties, like
some of the things we offer here. A lingerie
show, dirty dancing, massage, hand relief party,
mutual masturbation, undressing, shame and
humiliation "Freak of the week" show, orgy. We
also have great bachelor parties.
Court TV
Host: Hello, everyone, we're talking
with Dennis Hof and Mila, the Queen of Nasty
(Trixi Starr is otherwise occupied right
now...she's working)
Mila: I
personally like the food parties myself.
Dennis Hof:
A new fantasy for us is the food party. They'll
go down to the store and buy hundreds of dollars
of Ho-Ho's Ding Dongs, Hersheys chocolate,
strawberry syrup, whipped cream, of course,
cookie dough, etc
cglathrop_1965 asks:
How much can the average "good time"
cost?
sneeky_in_sacto asks:
How much does an average "session" cost?
Dennis Hof:
There's a lot of variables: how long, how many
girls, how kinky, whether its a house girl or a
porn star. Somebody like Mila is able to command
more money because she has a huge fan base, just
like a Playboy playmate. The range that I see
runs anywhere from $100 as the minimum up into
the tens of thousands of dollars. We accommodate
anybody, whatever anybody's budget is, the girls
try to accommodate them.
Mila: The
number one priority is to satisfy the customer.
cglathrop_1965 asks:
Does the price change if somebody is ugly or
better looking then most others?
Mila:
Absolutely not
Dennis Hof:
The price changes if they have a bad attitude or
they're a smart ass. I could share with you how
to get the best value. Treat the Moonlight Bunny
Ranch as a singles bar. Just know the odds are
better. What would you do? You'd be clean, you'd
be well dressed, you'd use your people skills,
get more bang for your buck.
pattyj82060
asks: What county is your brothel located
in?
Dennis
Hof:We're in Lyon County, Nevada.
Prostitution is legal in all counties in Nevada
except for Clark county, Las Vegas, and Washoe
county and Carson County, where Carson City is.
bush_diver35 asks:
Are the gals monitored for disease?
Dennis Hof:
16 years of mandatory testing, over 100,000
tests -- there has never been one case of HIV in
a Nevada brothel. The ladies are checked weekly
for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and monthly
for HIV. The Bunny Ranch may be the best example
or proof that condom usage works. Nevada only
contributes one half of one percent of all the
sexually transmitted diseases in America,
partially attributed to the success of the
brothel.
omni_888
asks: Mila did you ever work at normal type
jobs, and if you did, what were they???
Mila: I
worked for a psychiatrist doing medication
management.
Dennis Hof:
We have one girl who's a practicing attorney
that comes in one weekend a month and works for
us. We have a nurse, we have numerous teachers
in the summertime. I know of three girls who
have worked their way through medical school at
the ranch. A zillion girls work there in the
summer, college girls, they can then focus on
their education during the school year.
Mila: We
have one ex-marine. We also have an ex-cop.
bubbah72
asks: What is a "typical" day at a
brothel?
Mila: I
wake up in the morning, take a shower, have
breakfast, see some clients, work out, have some
lunch, see some more clients, then change, put
some more make-up on, see some more clients,
hang out, talk to the girls, basically have
dinner, see some more clients, and then go to
bed. I get a massage, get a manicure, get a
pedicure, use the tanning facility here. Use the
swimming facility. Use have a pool here and a
gym.
Dennis Hof:
My day: I wake up at 7 in the morning. I like
sex in the morning. I call in and get the
reports, see what the numbers were at the ranch.
Make my phone calls to Europe and New York. I'll
have breakfast out on the patio, ride my horses,
come back in the house to start working on the
computer, communicating with my accounting
staff, my administrative assistants, my
correspondence. Then I'll go to the ranch, speak
with madam Suzette, work there for a while.
we're in the process of doubling the size of the
facility. Take a few of the girls out to dinner,
that's it.
Mila: I
have more fun than Dennis does.
Dennis Hof:
I know. I'm getting laid once a day, you're
getting more than I am.
cptn_rukus
asks: Is it true, some girls will charge to
try to discourage a customer?
Mila:
Absolutely not.
Dennis Hof:
Excellent remark. The reality is that in most
prostitution around the world that's true, but
in the Ranch the girls don't have to have sex
with anybody they don't want to. They don't have
to do any sex acts, they don't want to. Keep in
mind that many of the customers are there
because their wives won't do certain things.
That's why we don't require the girls to do
anything they don't want to.
Mila: The
first question asked is not how much money you
have, but what the fantasy is. We're here to
satisfy a need. It's not a matter of what they
look like, It's not like that, everyone's
beautiful. The girls as independent contractors
have decided they want to come here and fulfill
a fantasy for the customer. If one girl doesn't
want to do it, another girl will do it. Not
because she has to but because she wants to.
tootall_350
asks: Why can it be legal there but not
here?
JLPY98
asks: What are the steps towards
legalization?
Dennis Hof:
The reason it's legal here is that it was part
of the culture of Nevada prior to its becoming
part of the US. Nevada was founded on mining and
ranching. There were lots of immigrant miners in
Virginia City, which is six miles from the
brothel. It was part of the culture. It wasn't
legal, it was just tolerated. In 1970, the
Nevada legislature decided to go ahead and
legalize it because they thought it would be
healthy for the state. There's prostitution
everywhere, the choices are you're either going
to legalize it, regulate it, tax it, and make
sure there's proper health checks, or you're
going to turn your head and pimps are gonna take
14 year-old girls and put them on the streets or
in massage parlors with no background or health
checks.
Dennis Hof:
How do you do it? You start with grass-roots
efforts. You lobby your legislatures. You make
everybody wake up. You say we want to deal with
this issue.
Court TV
Host: Here's a follow-up...
root11root
asks: Do you think prostitution should be
legal everywhere?
Dennis Hof:
Absolutely.
Mila: I
agree.
Dennis Hof:
It makes perfect sense, you can't get rid of it.
Our country's had over 200 years to rid itself
of prostitution, you cant do it, you have to
regulate it.
Mila: But
it has to be taught by Dennis, he has to give
Legalizing A Brothel 101, to get a certificate.
Dennis Hof:
I'll teach it on the Learning Channel.
Court TV
Host: Maybe you could teach it on
Court TV.
Dennis Hof:
I'm going to go on Catharine Crier's show on
Court TV on the 10th of October.
dbrooks8
asks: How much does Mila get and how much
does the house get?
Dennis Hof:
50-50 The girls get half, the house gets the
other half and pays its expenses, the return on
the investment. The bottom line is that when my
50 percent is done, I end up with about 15
percent.
Mila:
Everyone should come and visit the moonlight
buddy ranch. We're proud of what we do. We have
nothing to hide. Party with the Queen of Nasty.
Court TV
Host: We have a follow-up on working
conditions...
bubbah72
asks: Do you give benefits like a regular
business, i.e.: insurance, vacation, 401K,
retirement, day care??
Dennis Hof:
They're independent contractors, so they can't
receive benefits, their benefit is that they get
a mid to high six-figure income. When you're
making hundreds of thousands dollars a year, you
can pay to have your teeth cleaned.
Mila: I'm
going now and I'm going to put Trixi on, if
anybody wants to come visit me, they should come
by the Moonlight Bunny Ranch -- call
888-BUNNYRANCH.
Court TV
Host: Thanks, Mila, for joining
us...We're now joined by Trixi.
gadgetgirlnyc asks:
Is Nevada the only state with legalized
prostitution and if so, why?
Dennis Hof:
Because the rest of the states are too stupid to
do it.
Trixi
Starr: Hi everybody.
mktbtoy
asks: Can you honestly say you enjoy being a
prostitute? What is the appeal for you,
Trixi?
Trixi
Starr: It's not really different than
doing video. I have experienced I can tell about
and expand upon.
cuteone_00953 asks:
If you have a boyfriend, how does he feels
towards "the type of work" and being with
men?
Trixi
Starr: I don't have a boyfriend right
now. But if I did have a boyfriend I would
expect him to be totally understanding,
especially when I keep him as my man, my divine
hammer.
knous_
asks: Do you all make customers use
condoms?
Trixi
Starr: When I'm working as a
prostitute I make them all use condoms.
Dennis Hof:
That's how we keep the integrity of safe sex,
the reason people come from all over America to
the Bunny Ranch is that they know the girls are
tested, and there's condom usage.
knous_
asks: How many men a day does each prostitute
have sex with?
Dennis Hof:
Not as many as they like, usually working girls
like a lot of sex. If it's a decent day you get
10, maybe 5 to 10. I hear a 100 girls say, "God,
I've gotta get laid tonight," for every one who
says, "God, I'm worn out."
Trixi
Starr: I prefer one an hour, one
orgasm an hour.
jb22_49001
asks: What was your inspiration for getting
into this business?
Trixi
Starr: My inspiration was first of
all when I was 18, I wanted to start out as a
Las Vegas show girl. I came from a dancing
background, being schooled in tap, jazz, and
modern dance. At the age of 18, I thought maybe
a Las Vegas show girl would be the way to go,
and then I went into telephone actressing for a
year and a half. Then a friend introduced me to
an agent who got girls gigs in videos and
magazine shoots. I've never looked back since
then. Other girls encouraged me to come here and
work at this place. This is my second time back
and I totally dig it. I've also gotten
experience on being my own video producer and
director, as far as learning how to shoot a
video and budgeting an adult video, and
scriptwriting in feature films.
Court TV
Host: How about you, Dennis?
Dennis Hof:
I think of myself as the Victor Kiam of the
brothel business. iI liked the product so much I
bought the company!!! It's the best job in the
world. You're making a lot of money, and you're
around beautiful women all the time. Why would I
want to be a lawyer or a doctor? Come on, I'm
America's Pimpmaster General.
Court TV
Host: Here's a question similar to
one that Mila was asked before...
monteagle_93 asks:
Trixi, there's always the concern that a sex
worker was abused as a child. Is this true?
Trixi
Starr: I can't speak for everybody,
but I would say that of most people I've
encountered, about a ratio of about 40 percent
may have been. The question is also, was it
violent physical abuse or sexual abuse?
Dennis Hof:
Our research has shown that it's not any
different at the brothel than the mainstream.
Trixi
Starr: They want everybody that does
sex videos to be unionized, they are fascinated
with the sex industry, but they are not willing
to recognize the sex industry as being a
legitimate part of mainstream entertainment.
"They" meaning the mainstream people of America.
Court TV
Host: Speaking of activism in this
area...
fedmee31
asks: Are you a member of COYOTE?
Court TV
Host: It's a group that wants to
legalize prostitution called Call Off Your Old
Tired Ethics.
Dennis Hof:
She's not and none of the working girls are.
COYOTE would like the total legalization and
decriminalization of prostitution without any
controls, they've gotten nowhere with that
approach.
Trixi
Starr: I am part of the Free Speech
Coalition.
akthaq22
asks: Don't you feel if some of the other
states, especially neighboring ones, legalized
prostitution it would pull away your
clientele?
Dennis Hof:
Absolutely, but it needs to be done. The laws
against prostitution are ridiculous. It's no
different than Prohibition. It doesn't work.
akthaq22
asks: Do you ever get protesters there?
Dennis Hof:
No We're very much involved in the community. We
give back to the community We're the biggest
taxpayer in the community. In fact, all of the
womens' right organizations were recently
polled, and they agreed that the Bunny Ranch is
a choice of employment. They don't recommend a
particular industry. They did say that if
someone tried to take away a woman's choice,
they would come to our battle. I think that a
good mentality.
nanclyde77008 asks:
Are the majority of your clients married
men?
Dennis Hof:
I would say 50-50. We don't ask. I would think a
lot of people are married. The reason married
guys come to the bunny ranch is that their
spouses are not doing something. Men typically
don't receive the type and quantity of sex that
they want.
Court TV
Host: Thanks so much for joining
us...any closing thoughts?
Dennis Hof:
In summary, prostitution should be legalized,
and there's no business like ho' business.
Trixi
Starr: Take care of yourself, and
make sure other people take care of each other.
Court TV
Host: Thanks so much for joining us.
Court TV
Host: We've had a number of people
ask whether you have a website.
Dennis Hof:
Nevada has asked us not to do a website but our
email address is: [email protected]
Court TV
Host: Thanks again.
Dennis Hof:
One last thing. If you want to protect your
individual rights, you'd better vote Democratic.
Trixi
Starr: Independent liberal Democrats,
that's what we are.
Court TV
Host: A political endorsement!
