Dennis and Heidi

It may seem like Animal Planet is �unleashed� when Dennis and former Hollywood Madame Heidi Fleiss are part of the programming. Heidi Fleiss: Prostitutes to Parrots was on Discovery�s Animal Planet this past July, along with 20 exotic Macaw Parrots. Dennis supports Heidi in the show, helping keep her sobriety in check, while Heidi finds the thousands of dollars it takes each month to pay for the birds. Maybe they should name the show �Bird House�?

Bunnies At The Mansion!

By this time, Dennis and Bunnies will have been at Hef�s Playboy Mansion for July�s Summer Solstice Party, and this month for Rock The Mansion Party. These events are open to the public and you can get more information by going to our website and clicking on the banner. At the Summer Solstice Party, we auctioned off some VIP Booty Passes to the BunnyRanch, as money was raised for charity. If we hear of any good grotto stories, we�ll pass them along!

Mixing It Up

The Dayton Chamber of Commerce held their monthly mixer at The BunnyRanch in July, and it was a great time!

With a Hawaiian Luau Theme, including pineapples on hotdogs, over 60 members of the Chamber showed up, which we understand is a fantastic showing. We gave away a huge gift basket for a main prize, and the lovely Bunnies gave free tours. (Need we say more?)

Mixing It Up (Part 2)

Among the festivities, we also presented a nice check to Lyon County Search and Rescue�s LifeVest program, which gives away free life vests to kids swimming and boating on our local lakes. Ultimately this saves lives so it�s a great cause. The Bunnies raise the money with our charity box in the parlor, and the dollars start to add up! Thanks to everyone for making this donation so worthwhile.

2011 WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION
AUGUST 17 - 21, 2011

The Worldcon, or World Science Fiction Convention, is the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). The five day long event has been held each year since 1939 with the exception of four years during World War II. Locations have included the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Scotland, Germany, and The Netherlands. Science fiction and fantasy fans have traveled from all over the world to attend, including Japan, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Norway, Finland, Croatia, New Zealand, and Russia. In recent years the Worldcon has typically attracted between 3,000 and 6,000 attending members.

NUGGET BEST IN THE WEST RIB COOK-OFF

Thousands of visitors make their way to Victorian Square in Sparks each Labor Day to experience the biggest and most prestigious rib cook-off in the United States. 2011 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AIR RACES & AIR SHOW
September 14-18, 2011

The National Championship Air Races and Air Show will return for its 48th year with six classes of racing aircraft and a first-class airshow including some of the world's top aerobatic performers and military aircraft, and plus static aircraft displays, merchandise, food and drink, and a closing awards banquet.

Events begin around 8 AM each day, Wednesday through Sunday, and include pylon races from each of the classes interspersed with aerobatic demonstrations from some of the top performers in the world, military aircraft demonstrations and fly-bys, and plenty of opportunities to get up-close-and-personal with a wide variety of aircraft.

GREAT RENO BALLOON RACE - 30TH ANNIVERSARY

The Great Reno Balloon Race is one of Reno's most colorful and spectacular events and is held at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park (just a few miles north of downtown). Held the weekend after Labor Day, 2011 will mark the 30th anniversary of one of the region's most popular events. Over 100 of the nation�s top hot air balloonists compete in multiple competitions as a mass ascension. A trademark of the race is the Dawn Patrol, which takes place before the sun rises and provides an amazing spectacle as balloons glow, twinkle, and fly against the dark sky. A comprehensive selection of food, crafts, art and souvenirs awaits spectators along with wonderfully uplifting music to complement this celebration of flight.

In true Virginia City spirit, the Camel Races began as a hoax. Camels were introduced to the American frontier as pack animals, and were brought to the Comstock to carry salt and general supplies. As Virginia City grew and the V&T Railroad took over the drayage chores for the area, the sometimes disagreeable and smelly animals were turned loose in the hills, and eventually disappeared. Bob Richards, late editor of Lucius Beebe's "Territorial Enterprise," wrote a fictitious account of the city's "Camel Races" in 1959, and followed up the next year with an editorial announcement of the upcoming races. Local residents, wise to this form of humor which dates back to the tall tales of Mark Twain and Dan DeQuille, early "Enterprise" reporters, watched the first real race that year.
