I am SO EXCITED about Hot August Nights!


I love classic car shows, and you can't get more hot of a show than this one here! It offers everything from casual tours to drag races! Leading up to the event, I will use this thread to post information on various classic cars, trucks, and hotrods, as well as more details about the event. (And some pin up style photos I have in the works, too )

First up is the Chevy C10



Reportedly one of the hottest vehicles on the collector market right now. The Chevy C10 was part of the CK series, which began in 1960, and broke sales records from 1964-1966. A two-wheel drive, half-ton truck, the C10’s front-axel boasted improved weight distribution. It also had a larger windshield and cab than Chevrolet’s earlier models.

This truck was the trailblazer for future light-duty and heavy-duty pickups. The above photo is a 1965 model.

When I used to work for the city, there was a car show they’d put in in the park called Sounds Of Freedom. I loved seeing all the rare cars that would be entered. A friend of one of my former coworkers owned a DeLorean. I used to want one of those growing up, but I doubt those wing doors would be practical in tight parking lots. My Ford Focus barely fits if someone parks too close to me, which has happened to where I had to squeeze in from the other door. I wish I had a Jeep again.

The best car show I went to was in my youth where they had the old Batmobile on display. That lured kids in for sure.

 

Oh that's cool, especially the DeLorean! I never thought about the tight parking lots! Lol

 

The worst part? Flux capacitor not included. LOL

 

1967 Ford Mustang


In 1967 the Ford Mustang got an overhaul to compete in a more competitive market. Sporting a larger size and more powerful performance, it included a big block V8 engine for the first time. Over 472,000 were sold.​

 

Ugh. What a rip-off. Lol

1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville​

You can't get more classic than a 1959 Cadillac. Its tail-fins are so over-styled, it's almost comical, and generally creates a love it or hate it attitude among the public.

Also, many of you know I'm in love with Johnny Cash. You can often catch me on Wednesdays singing karaoke to this related song.

HUDSON HORNET

The Hudson Hornet was produced from 1951-1954 by the Hudson Motor Car company, then through American Motors Corporation from 1955-1957 Its floorpan gave it a lower center of gravity which made it popular for stock racing. The above photograph is of a 1951 model.​
