We’ve all seen them on tv, yelled out answers at the screen, and thought to ourselves that we could do better. Game shows have been around for years and are constantly finding new ways to get us excited about daytime programming. Even though we all have a favorite, have you ever stopped to think about what show you could actually win? Is there one that you would absolutely dominate and it wouldn’t even be fair? Maybe one you’d just like to try for the fun of it? In this discussion I want to learn about your hidden skill set, and what show it would help you go all the way in.
I've been watching Deal or No Deal on CNBC. It's a simple game that doesn't require much skill. I was thinking about memorizing the strategy for the hangman game and then going on the Wheel of Fortune show. It seems like the hangman strategy would work well for Wheel of Fortune.
I wish I was good enough to play on Jeopardy, can usually beat the couch most of the time , but the contestants are usually really good. Nah, if i had to pick a game to win, it would be the Price is Right. Depending on the game of course, but usually the games are linked to prices for grocery items. I used to work stock at a grocery store for 4 years when I was in college, so I have a pretty good skill for guessing prices.
That’s clever, I never would have thought to do something like that. You should try it, I’ll cheer you on!
Jeopardy is wayyyy out of my league lol . The Price is Right is a solid choice though, especially since you have all that experience!
I really like a show called "Cash Cab". The host picks up people off the street in his cab in New York. He asks them questions and if they answer correctly, they win money and a free cab ride. If they get three wrong before they reach their destination, they get kicked out. I don't know how you could plan a strategy for that game. First you have to be at the right place at the right time to get to play which would be tough since the cab looks like any other. And it's all trivia questions so no strategy involved there. I would just have to hope he asked me questions about stuff I know.
It's still been one of my fondest dreams to be a contestant on Jeopardy!. and I know that the annual online contestants' test is coming up April 9-11. I've taken it before, and it's can be pretty tough to begin with. It's a 50 question general knowledge test, where you have seven seconds to come up with the answer to the clue in various categories. But the good thing here is -- you don't have to answer it in the form of a question. And it's graded on a curve as well, so there's always that chance you'll get to go on to be invited to one of their in-person contestant searches that they conduct around the country during the summer. Brent had the honor of being in the contestant pool in 2011-2012, but unfortunately, he never got the call to compete. But the coordinators always say don't give up. They cite the story of a contestant who tried out over 10 times before he finally got on. And he ended up winning a couple of games to boot! You never know!
Then there's Cliff Claven, lol... We're still rooting for you, @ColinSTL ! I'm one of those typical viewers who kill it while watching in the comfort of my living room but most likely, would get caught with "deer in the headlights" syndrome if I even got that far. The ladies are always engaged in some sort of game on Livestream (e.g., the Moonlight Bunnies' recent bra toss)...imagine a "Family Feud" between the Ranches with highly suggestive categories.
I always thought Deal or No Deal would be cool But Jeopardy I have been playing for decades with my calculator on the couch. I was a 5 day champion a couple times over the years. I might have to look into that.
My mind is pretty sharp so I think I could do very well on Pyramid or Match Game. One Thanksgiving my family was watching jeapordy and I ran 3 categories. My uncle asked why I wasn't playing on the show. No tryouts were ever near me and I was always scared that I would pass the audition, get on the show and then get hit with categories like "Physics" "European Literature" or "Bible Quotes"
I have the video game versions of both Price Is Right and Wheel Of Fortune, and mostly, they’re games of luck. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to go on Price Is Right, but I doubt I’d ever get to Contestants Row, let alone get out of that, play a game, and spin the wheel.
It would be awesome to be one of those Ken Jennings runs on Jeopardy and rake in a bunch of dough. I do better with humanities than some of the other ones.
I just want to spin the big wheel on Price Is Right. Don’t care if I win anything, I always wondered how heavy that thing is
There was a show I really liked about 20 years ago during the hey day of reality game shows called "The Mole". The players competed in various games trying to earn money for the pot awarded to the winner. One of the players was the mole whose job it was to sabotage the games and avoid detection. At the end of each episode the players were given a quiz with questions pertaining to the mole; what color shirt did the mole wear during such and such a game, where does the mole come from, how many children does the mole have, etc. The player with the lowest score was eliminated. It required the players to not only identify the mole, but also compile as much information about him/her as possible to pass the quiz and advance to the next round. The games were partly physical but mostly mental requiring reasoning skills and logic to succeed. I would have liked to have been on this show but I'm not sure about my ability to remember a bunch of trivial facts about the other players or my people skills to gather the information. Definitely a lot of opportunity to employ strategy trying to mislead the other players. Several years later one of the finalists from "The Mole" appeared on the "Cash Cab". He was a gay helicopter pilot and law student named Jim Morrison. I am not making this up.
All of you jeopardy volunteers are much braver than I. Every time I watch that I begin to question the quality of my education
One of the first two seasons was released on DVD. You might try searching YouTube. I watched some of the episodes of the British version on there. This game was also played in many different countries, it originated in Belgium I think. PS. It's the first two seasons of the American series you want to see. There were five in all but it's the first two that are good.
Yes, he announced having Stage 4 pancreatic cancer but made light of it saying he still owed Jeopardy! two-three years on his contract.
Family feud, deal or no deal.... and right here bucket list..... drumroll... who wants to be a millionaire with big Regis!
Throw me on let's make a deal, it's all about blind luck and guts, so it's just like the casinos in vegas, plus there's the bonus of meeting the incredibly hot Tiffany Coyne
Me 2! I think I'm really smart, and the double jeopardy hits and I'm all......."well I'd get my ass kicked"
I'm not going to lie, I always wanted to be on Super Market Sweep. Who doesn't want to run through a super market?
