Is Love Ranch based on a true story?

In its broad outlines, it's mostly based on fact. Joe and Sally Conforte opened a brothel in 1967, some miles outside Reno. In 1971, it obtained a county license and became the state's first legal brothel. In 1976, the Argentinean heavyweight Oscar Bonavena was shot dead at the Mustang Ranch by Joe's bodyguard.

 

Yes, and a Movie was made about the true story that you speak of and the name of the movie was "The Love Ranch" and that is one of the reasons why Dennis changed the name from Bunnyranch II to it's now namesake, "Loveranch".

THE HISTORY IS PRETTY INTERESTING …..
I’d recommend checking the movie out and looking into the overall history of brothels in general. It’s all really neat.
